Did you use gridding or was this freehand?

Well, gridding is so much hard as it is time consuming. I used to do it a lot a long time ago.

There is one thing you could keep in mind for next time. Don't be afraid to fix the brightness and contrast, because sometimes the scanner can take lot away from what the original picture looks like. I think that fixing the lighting just a bit will make your picture stand out more. The scanned also tends to make naturally white paper look dirty. Just a suggestion.

Again, it is a really great portrait, especially for freehand. You should definitely applaud yourself for not using a grid.

haha thanks! and ya i did, you can kinda tell i might to a touch up of it, but ya mostly the hair and eyes. :thanks:

Definitely do. Gimp is a good program (Used it for a lot of my paintings in my gallery now) and has great plugins and brushes available for download all over the internet.
